Two new Rose Paintings, my Last Cityscape and Nothing Scary!

Posted by Vincent Keeling on

Hope everyone is well out there. I know I really should have some scary themed stuff for you today, being Halloween and all, but alas I'm not that organised. And, in truth my marketing team consists of small often distracted sub-department of my addled arty-brain. In other words, far from optimised.

Okay, things have thankfully been busy with me of late; a succession of portrait commissions, with another just started. And also several paintings sold including some roses, a cityscape and Elvis Presley no less, who has now migrated back to America, which is probably a more fitting home for the King of Rock'n Roll than the leafy suburbs of Dublin.

So as for the real news, I have two new rose paintings to tell you about today. This first one I'm calling "Secret Garden". And for those of you paying close attention, you are right this is the second pink rose painting in a row for me, which in truth is a tad unsettling for my fragile male ego. I know, I should be man enough to own it, but not sure I am.

And for those of you paying super-close attention, you'll also have noticed that I’ve been pilfering names from song titles again; this time from Mr. Springsteen in his wonderful slow melodic tune of Jerry Maguire fame. Not that Bruce needs a romantic comedy to make a song  famous, but don’t think it hurt in this case.

The next one is another small rose, this time a white one I'm calling New Beginnings. Now I don't think this is a song title. Hmm, ok wait there…. hold everything! Let do a quick Spotify-search and see what comes up? Well now, it seems it is, or at least we got close. Tracey Chapman has a 1995 album and song called "New Beginning". Playing now as I type this, and I have to say it's not bad. It's no "Fast Car", but not bad.

The last one below is an oldie, and yes you have seen it before, but frankly it's a hell of painting if I do say so myself, and it's my LAST Dublin Cityscape available. I think I mentioned in my previous message that I was looking at painting some more cityscapes,  but this just didn't happen. My focus got swiftly redirected to portrait work, and then finishing a few other roses that are coming soon, and other top-secret painting projects. Thus, I thought I'd give this older painting of Stephen's Green, another whirl in this virtual gallery window.

Like with Elvis I believe there's a good home out there for this one. Not sure where, or when but that wall of love for neglected paintings is waiting, I'm sure of it.

Ok folks that's it for now, and will be back soon with more painting info. Some spectacular orange blossoms to show, and an older rose which I foolishly decided to tinker with, with the ensuing mission creep and virtual hair-pulling. A painful lesson, but looks better than it did:) Will fill you in next time.

Thanks for reading as ever!

All the best
