GESTURE DRAWING with BRENT EVISTON
Posted by Vincent Keeling on
This video today introduces you to another great teacher called Brent Eviston that I’ve only just recently come across. Here Brent tackles that often misunderstood and slippery subject of Gesture Drawing. And although he doesn’t demo in this first video, he does reveal much of his process and thinking, by showing examples of his figure drawings, answering student queries and finally doing a little critique session on student work at the end. A lot of good information here, beginning with Brent’s clarity in expressing his two primary goals in Gesture Drawing, which are to both simplify and capture the action...

Today I want to introduce you to a wonderful art teacher called Stephen Bauman who is to my mind one of the best online teachers out there, particularly if you’re interested in improving your portrait drawing. To give you an idea of his calibre he spent some 12 years as an instructor in the prestigious Florence Academy of Art, so needless to say highly qualified. He now teaches primarily online sharing his knowledge free via YouTube and paid content on his very affordable Patreon channel. And for book lovers among you he’s also recently released a book called “The Art of...

On the positive side this is a physically beautiful book full of lush illustrations of Richard's work. He's also a highly entertaining and engaging writer, with a talent...

Oil Painting Value Studies with artist Nicolas Uribe

This is a fantastic little video of an artist I really admire called Nicolas Uribe. I think he was born in the US but to Columbian parents and thus has been back and forth over the years between the two Countries. He’s and now based Bogota where himself and his partner the lovely Daniela Ocampo set up this really cool project a few years ago, called “Our Painted Lives”. The gist of it is that Nicolas would paint scenes from their everyday lives, with lots of little detours into other subject matter too, and Danny would help with the video...
